Sclerotherapy | YAG Laser Spider Vein Removal | Lehigh Valley
Millions of women are bothered by spider veins – those small yet unsightly clusters of red, blue or purple veins that most commonly appear on the thighs, calves and ankles. In fact, it’s estimated that at least half of the adult female population is plagued with this common cosmetic problem.
Spider veins can develop from weak or damaged valves as well. They can also be caused by hormone changes, exposure to sun and injuries.
The great news is, this condition is treatable with a procedure called Sclerotherapy and or YAG Laser
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is the most common treatment for improving the appearance of spider veins on the legs. It is also performed to treat symptoms caused by these conditions, such as aching, swelling and burning.
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a chemical solution directly into the varicose or spider vein. The solution causes the vein walls to swell, stick together and seal shut, stopping the flow of blood. As a result, the vein fades within a few weeks.
What is YAG Laser?
The Nd: YAG laser penetrates the skin into the superficial blood vessel. The heat generated from the laser coagulates the blood inside the spider vein, causing it to collapse and seal. Over the next few weeks, the spider vein will disappear and all the blood will be removed by the body’s scavenging cells.
